“Heralds of Good News” (HGN) is a Clerical Missionary Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right, whose principal seat is established in the diocese of Eluru in India, was founded by Rev Fr Jose Kaimlett on October 14, 1984. It was erected as of diocesan right on May 5, 1991 and being recognized as of Pontifical right on May 5, 1999. The Society has a charism that is unique to itself of training and supplying zealous and saintly priests wherever there is need in the universal Church, especially due to the shortage of local vocations.
The Society has Mary Queen of Apostles and St. Joseph the Worker as the Patrons.
Since the Society has made a rapid progress both in the matter of personnel and at the level of activities, to make a smooth run of the administration, four new Provinces were created in August, 2008, namely; Mary Queen of Apostles Province, St. Paul Province, St. John Paul-II Province and Blessed Mother Teresa Province, in September 2017 a new province has been created and the name of the new province is Divine Mercy Province. All the five provinces now function under the leadership of five different “Provincials”, and the whole Society is guided by the “Superior General.”
The official inauguration of the Divine Mercy Province of Heralds of Good News was held on 29th October 2017 at HASCOM, Poonamalee, Chennai. The inauguration ceremony was affciated by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. A. M. Chinappa, D. D Archbishop Emeritus of Madras and Mylapore, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Neethinathan, D. D. Bishop of Chingalpattu and His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Lawrence Pius, D. D. Bishop of Dharmapuri in the presence of Superior General, General Councilors, Provincials of Other Provinces, More than 70 priests and many Lay collaborators joined us for the celebrations. Neighboring priests, religious and our beloved priests who turned out in big numbers.
